Hetrick-Martin Institute Hosting 21st Annual “School’s Out”
Hetrick-Martin Institute (HMI), the nation’s oldest and largest LGBTQ youth service organization, is once again heading to the Hamptons – to host the 21st annual School’s Out fundraiser.
“School’s Out is an important fundraiser for HMI because it provides the financial security that will enable us to provide our vital services throughout the summer months – when young people are often lacking in critical support,” Thomas Krever, Chief Executive Officer of HMI, explained. “Throughout June HMI will be asking the community to participate in a campaign about Pride. Beyond the march, events like School’s Out and programs like those HMI offers for young people are part of our proud tradition as a community that stands together. ”
The bipartite benefit on Saturday, June 8 will commence with cocktails in East Hampton from 6 to 8:30 p.m., followed by an intimate dinner at the Further Lane home of Joe Hall and Martin Dagata from 8:30 to 10 p.m.
“As proud supporters of HMI, it is our honor to open our home for HMI’s annual Hamptons event for the first time,” Hall and Dagata shared. “And it’s a privilege to be associated with such a powerful, supportive and community oriented event.”
Wölffer Kitchen will provide lite bites for the cocktail party, while the dinner will feature STK Steakhouse.
Benjamin Dixon, Dan Ennis and Rod Grozier will serve as event co-chairs, with a host committee of Joseph Altuzarra, Tracy Anderson, Steven Beltrani, Shelly Brown, Lisa Cohen, Thom Filicia, Fernando Garcia, John Glynn, Ryan Kaplan, Garrett Neff, Jordan Ross, Sydney Sadick, Brian Sawyer, Kevin Sharkey, Bill Wackermann, and Paul Weinstein.
“I’m so honored to be co-hosting School’s Out again this year in support of the Hetrick-Martin Institute and LGBTQ youth,” Anderson, fitness pioneer and Creator of the Tracy Anderson Method, relayed. “The event is one of the highlights of my summer in the Hamptons, and I know this year is going to be better than ever!”
In addition to serving as a host committee member, Anderson will champion HMI throughout the weekend by presenting a duo of special FundamenTAL workouts. “To keep the weekend celebrations moving, my Water Mill studio will be hosting fundraising classes on June 8th and June 9th with 100% of proceeds donated to HMI as part of my ‘Everybody Fits’ campaign for PRIDE 2019. At HMI, and at Tracy Anderson, no one gets judged or turned away,” Anderson added. To sign up for a class, visit hmi.org.
All proceeds from School’s Out will support HMI’s mission of fostering healthy youth development. The organization provides a safe and supportive environment in which lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth between the ages of 13 and 24 can achieve their full potential.
Tickets to School’s Out start at $400 for the cocktail party and $1,500 for the dinner.
