Danka Artwinka’s Tracy Anderson Method Journey
There are two reasons I’m doing the Tracy Anderson Method: The first is vanity; the second is my health. Vanity is something I’m not ashamed of anymore. I just want to look good for my age (48), and I want my clothes to fit me nicely. I believe taking care of myself is an act of self-love, and it makes me a better person. I believe aging is difficult, especially for women. There are days when I don’t like what I see in the mirror. I’m still learning to accept the passage of time, and I’m adjusting my workouts accordingly. I always tell young women that it’s easy to look good when you’re young, but how you look when you’re older is up to you. It’s your responsibility.
“Tracy made my body look more feminine and toned. I’ve also become stronger and more flexible.”
I’ve always been slim. I’ve never been on a diet, and I’ve never needed to lose any weight. I don’t need to exercise every day. I do it because it helps me to trust myself, and to be responsible for my own health. Moving your body on a daily basis is extremely important, and the Method provides the perfect tools to do it. I’ve done all of Metamorphosis and Continuity, which I loved, and then I moved to streaming. I don’t do atTAin because it’s too challenging and too long for me; my body likes shorter workouts. I do the Fundamental class, and on days when I’m tired or busy, I do Beginners. I don’t do cardio much as I enjoy walking in nature. I want to stress that it’s not Tracy who decides which workout suits me better, it’s me. I don’t feel guilty if I do an easier workout, or if I have to skip a day. The key to obtaining results is consistency.
Mind, Body, and Soul
Tracy made my body look more feminine and toned. I’ve also become stronger and more flexible. I show up for myself whenever I can, and I enjoy my workouts very much. I know I’m doing much more than many people in the world, and it’s something I’m proud of. I think it’s time we learned to accept all types and shapes of bodies, to learn that some things can be improved with exercise and some can’t. And that’s a good thing, and it doesn’t matter at all in the end. We’re all different, and there’s no need to compare ourselves to others.
Tracy Anderson is my friend. I trust and rely on her totally; I admire her genius and her strong will. She’s also a nice person in real life, and I’m looking forward to meeting her again soon!
